Pharmacy - Spec. in Applied Pharmacotherapy

INTRODUCTION

The Master's Degree in Pharmacy - Specialization in Applied Pharmacotherapy is divided into three semesters, corresponding to a total of 90 ECTS. This cycle of studies includes a specialization course, consisting of a set of courses corresponding to the 1st year, a total of 60 ECTS including: Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmacy and Drug Regulation, Advanced Pharmacology, Drug Research and Development, Drug Toxicology, Clinical Pharmacokinetics, Applied Pharmacotherapy, Pharmacotherapeutic follow-up, Drug Information and Scientific Production, Pharmacotherapy in Special Groups and Dissertation/Original Project Work/Internship I.

TARGET CANDIDATES

  • Holders of a degree in pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences or legal equivalent;

  • Holders of a foreign academic degree conferred after a first cycle of studies in pharmacy, organized according to the principles of the Bologna Process by a State adhering to this process;

  • Holders of a foreign academic degree that is recognized as meeting the objectives of a degree in Pharmacy recognized by the competent Scientific Body and holders of a relevant academic, scientific or professional curriculum.

OBJECTIVES

The advance of knowledge and the increasing demands for quality of the provision of care in the pharmacy area justify the relevance of this cycle of studies that intends to:

  • Deepen knowledge in the area of Applied Pharmacotherapy, in order to promote the rational use of drugs;

  • Provide advanced formation that allows an approach to the existent challenges in the area of specialization;

  • Develop skills for analysis, assessment and application of knowledge in the professional practice;

  • Allow the dissemination and systematization of advanced knowledge, centred on the patients, in their assistance and in the therapeutic drug monitoring and assessment of results;

  • Provide the deepening of knowledge and skills that form the basis of development or application that focus on hospital or community intervention;

  • Deepen the understanding of research methodologies, design and analysis of studies, integrated in the professional activity.
